ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to identify, enumerate and describe the importance of resources for teaching social studies to practicing teachers and to locate the sources and the types of materials that are available within the educational system in Osogbo Local Government Area. The investigation was carried out with the use of questionnaire given to fifteen social studies teachers from different secondary schools in Osogbo Local Government Area.

It was found that adequate teaching aids and textbooks are lacking. There are not enough trained teachers to meet the required standard. The teachers level of interest in social studies is not satisfactory.
